Five Letters That Will Guarantee You’ll Complete Your New Years Resolutions!
by Alain Jean-Baptiste
The year has just started, you're full of energy, ready to go and you’ve just decided - or are in the process of deciding - what you’re going to achieve this year. It starts in your head with: “What’s my soul's destiny, what am I here to accomplish, what’s my mission?” For some of you, it remains in your head. You tell yourself that you don’t need to write it down because you know what you want. For others, you write everything down, stick magnets to your fridge; write it on reader boards, and you decide that this is the year you’re going to make it all come true. Come February it starts to fizzle. Why is that?
Consider this astounding fact: only 8% of people are successful at achieving their new years' resolution*.
Now January is often the time when most people come to see me to gain psychic insights about the future. For some people I see it right away - whatever they are thinking, it's not happening. Some don’t really have the desire or the willingness to see it through. For others, they simply don’t expect it to be real so they don’t strive for it, or whenever a challenge arises they just give up. Nevertheless, throughout all of the psychic readings I have completed over two decades, one thing does always stand out: those people who have the desire to succeed, expect it to happen and plan for it. They imagine themselves succeeding by planning out what they want. They use their sixth sense, the sense of Imagination as a vehicle to allow their soul's desire to manifest its dream, its actuality into this world. They allow their sense of Voice, the 8th sense to carry its soul's calling into the world. They use their sense of Balance, the 7th sense to bring the inner and outer worlds into harmony. They create SMART objectives.
S.M.A.RT is a simple NLP technique that stands for: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Timely.
Instead of saying "I want to be free and do whatever I want to do," which usually ends up getting you nowhere, imagine yourself, your soul as a Map Maker. When working with a map you need specific directions.
Ask yourself: "What do I want specifically?"
"I want to weigh 120 pounds," or "I want to spend two days a week with my son."
You need metrics; you need to be able to evaluate, calculate whether you're getting there. If you're going to fly somewhere, and you have just enough fuel for two hours you need an instrument to see if you're on course.
How will you know you're at your ideal weight? How will you know that you are seeing your child often enough?
if you're 20 years old and want to be a billionaire the first year that you start your business selling cookies it may be something you want to rethink. I am not saying it's unachievable but it's highly improbable. Set goals that you can reasonably achieve so that you build your confidence and self-esteem block by block. You don’t become an Olympic athlete in 30 days.
This is the one that many people struggle with. Let me rephrase that, this is the one your negative ego finds hard to deal with.
It's the letter, the word, that can blindly side-track you. For some people, denial sets in and they just can’t seem to cope with the fact that whatever the goal is, it makes no sense. As a psychic medium, I have coached people of all walks of life, and this is always the killer. Whether it's because your goal is to be loved by someone, or you want to be the next Mark Zuckerberg (founder of Facebook), be careful not to sabotage yourself at this stage. From experience I tell you that if you're not realistic you’ll step away from your soul's desire. Just remember: pride comes before the fall.
Don’t try to cut corners. Rome wasn’t built in three days. I see this all the time, especially with entrepreneurs. You set out to create something fantastic, you're flying high and suddenly it's all too fast and everything starts to crumble. You can’t make a tree grow faster and think that there won’t be any consequences. You can grow chickens at twice the speed but then look at what happens and the impact that it causes. Work with time. You're not its master. If you try to be, I guarantee you’ll become its slave.
SMART outcome example: "With the help of a proofreader and the collaboration of the team at Soul Life Times I will have written an article within 5 days and have it published for January 2015."
Simple yet to the point, I can see when and with whom it will be done, it's within a timeframe that is respectful of my other values and goals and it's realistic.
Have fun and start the year with the end IN MIND.
