December 6th...Shaman Moon
by Maya White
This week’s Full Moon spins delight into the Gemini/ Sagittarius axis. With the Sun in Sagittarius and the moon full in Gemini, it’s time to sing your shaman’s song.
The glyph, or symbol for Sagittarius says it all – an archer shooting his arrow into the sky. The archer is half horse, half human –a character looking like Chiron, the wounded healer of astrology. Rejected by his mother, Chiron grew to become a wise teacher of hands on healing and even astrology. He’s also known as the shaman – one who works with the Spirit world.
Sagittarius is a sign of wisdom and Gemini is about communication. Also, Gemini and Sagittarius represent the Mutable quality of the zodiac (the other two Mutable signs are Pisces and Virgo).
The Shadow of Mutability
During the Mutable seasons, you may want to keep your options open and there is a tendency to scatter your efforts. Mutability is represented in the yin/yang sign in the Sagittarius card. The beauty of mutability is that it welcomes change and can actually prosper in times of uncertainty. However, not everyone dances so easily in this medium. And, you may also find that people change their minds during this important full moon.
Be aware of mixed messages and sudden changes of plans. Sometimes words such as ‘yes’ , or ‘I want to’ have different meanings depending on whether you are on the receiving or the submitting end of the conversation. Yes sometimes actually means ‘maybe’ and I do really masks ‘I feel obligated.’
Mutability represents a time and an opportunity to step up on the next spiral of life. Step lightly into your next phase, align with your vision, and speak your truth. It’s OK to leave the past behind and to make plans for your future.
The Light of Gemini
Since Gemini is the sign of this lunation, let’s take a look at how Gemini shines.
- Gemini is very quick to grasp an issue and understand what needs to be done
- Gemini is a master of equality and is able to find balance in relationship
- Gemini is an ambassador for one of our most precious gifts – the power of the spoken Word.
This full moon is also a powerful time to examine your past year, and give thought to what you want 2015 to look like. You have leverage now; it’s a sweet pocket of precious time before the holiday season winds up your attention.
Happy Full Moon!
